Arthur “Boo” Radley
Maycomb, Alabama- Arthur “Boo” Radley, age 73, of Maycomb, passed away Sunday, June 5, 1975, of natural cases in his Maycomb home.
Boo was born April 14, 1902, in Maycomb, Alabama. He was the son of Henry and Martha Radley. Arthur did not finish high school. In 1917 Boo and the Cunningham boys got in trouble for disturbing the peace in the town park. He could have gone to a place for boys to shape up but instead was put in the basement of the jail for a while. Mr. Radley then locked Boo up in the house. No one had seen him in 15 years. He had story made up about him but none of these rumors were true. Boo then in 1934 saved Jean Louise “Scout” and Jem Finch from Bob Ewell who was attacking them for revenge on their father after he had made Bob look bad during the trial of Mayella Ewell vs. Tom Robinson. After making sure Jem would be fine he had Scout walk him home. Boo loved to scrapbook and helping people who were in need.
Boo is not survived by anyone. Boo is preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and older brother Nathan Radley.
Boo’s funeral will take place Friday, June 10, 1975 at the Maycomb Church in Maycomb. He will be buried in the Maycomb cemetery and he will be laid to rest next to his family.
